Babe Ruth drank alcohol during probation (being illegal at the time) should he be banned from Baseball as well?

LOL Bad spelling on my part

I ment prohibition

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Ruth also was a habitual user of a banned substance that was deemed unambiguously illegal by the federal government--a drug Ruth believed enhanced his performance: alcohol. Ruth was a star during the roaring prohibition 1920s, and as teammate Joe Dugan said, "Babe would go day and night, broads and booze."

But Ruth didn't just stop at the watering hole to find an edge. According to The Baseball Hall of Shame's Warped Record Book, by Bruce Nash, Allan Zullo and Bob Smith, the Bambino fell ill one year attempting to inject himself with extract from a sheep's testes. This effort by more than a few athletes of his era to seek the healing and strengthening properties of testosterone prefigured the craze for steroids. When Ruth fell ill from his attempted enhancement, the media was told that Ruth merely had "a bellyache."

I knew what you meant. Just had to give you the ribbin over it.

but, hey I am fine with any bans like that even. It doesn't bother me.

Honistly I don't care one way or the other I just think it is silly that folks do not think that players will look for ANY type of competative advantage (Swimmers shaveing body hair distance runners taking wasp stings or anything else)

A competitive advantage and cheating is two different things.

Exatly...it has to be against the rules to be cheating...otherwise, legal or not, it's getting a competitive advantage.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

See I disagree. If its illegal, its cheating.

If the Hall of Fame took that view there'd be no one in it...cuz everyone has done something illegal at one time or another...whether or not it pertains to the game is a different story.

Illegal in effecting competition is all that I have argued. I'm not saying pull some one out for a speeding ticket.
